Artist Statement
Eastern philosophy with Midwestern pragmatism fosters my work. I create content driven abstracts, which have an analytical component. My studies at the Art Institute of Chicago encourage continued experimentation. Taking artistic risks, and provoking my own perceptions through use of diverse mediums, meets a need for personal growth.
My approach in producing non-verbal visual statements resonates from a desire to communicate. I believe the process of creating and viewing art is a form of visual literacy. My current works evolved from Monotypes, Sumi-e, collage and watercolors.
Working with fluid acrylics on large canvas, I invite viewers to develop their own response to social commentary expressed in a non literal manner. My work reflects transformation and change and allows me to grow artistically and intellectually. |
